Dr Mataroria Lyndon

Co-Founder & Director of Population Health & Equity
Coming from the iwi of Ngāti Hine, Ngāti Wai, Ngāti Whatua, and Waikato, Dr Mataroria is dedicated to improving health equity in Aotearoa. He is a clinician, an academic and has governance roles spanning health, academia, and sport.

He completed his Master of Public Health at Harvard University as a Fulbright Scholar and his PhD is focused in medical education. He was also awarded the Deloitte IPANZ Public Sector Young Professional of the Year 2016.

Dr Mataroria is also a Senior Lecturer in Medical Education at the University of Auckland and he co-hosts the TVNZ medical series The Check Up. He was previously a Equity Lead for Mahitahi Hauora PHO and a medical lead for Māori health at Counties Manukau DHB.

In his governance roles, Dr Mataroria is a Board member of Te Aka Whai Ora Māori Health Authority, Pūtahi Manawa Centre of Research Excellence, and Aktive Sport and Recreation. He was previously Deputy Chair of Te Hiringa Hauora Health Promotion Agency, and Board member of the Northland DHB.

As our Director of Population Health & Equity, Dr Mataroria is dedicated to our health equity strategy at Tend. He is not currently practising as a GP.
