Dr. Ernesto graduated from Havana Medical University in 1993 and over the years, alongside his wife Lisset who is also a GP, has practiced medicine across the globe. They worked as general practitioners in their hometown before moving to South Africa in 1997, where Ernesto expanded his expertise to include emergency hospital care, major surgeries, and anaesthesiology.

In 2002, the couple relocated to Spain, where Ernesto looked after their community for 15 years as a GP. Drawn by New Zealand's landscape and lifestyle, Ernesto and Lisset moved here in 2018.

Ernesto worked as a rural GP in the Hurunui area before moving to Rangiora, where he stayed for 3 years before moving to Tend Beckford. Ernesto enjoys the challenge of general practice and the opportunity to build positive relationships with his patients. He has special interests in orthopaedics, skin cancer, Platelets Plasma Rich (PRP), musculoskeletal procedures and minor surgical procedures.

Outside of his professional life, Ernesto and his family are avid enthusiasts of skiing and snowboarding. He has a passion for music and sports, particularly football, a love he shares with his two sons who have grown up playing the sport.

I love the challenge of general practice, never knowing what will come through my doors in the next consult and being able to build positive rapport with my patients.
