Susan is a DNP (Designated Nurse Prescriber) and has a PGDip in Advanced Nursing. Throughout her career, Susan has received extensive training in various medical areas. She has experience in paediatrics at Starship and has also gained expertise in travel medicine. However, her main focus lies in primary healthcare.

Her special areas of interest revolve around diabetes and diabetes-related complications. This includes hypertension, high cholesterol, and lifestyle motivation. She is passionate about supporting individuals in managing their diabetes to improve their overall health outcomes and enhance their future quality of life.

As a clinician, Susan finds great joy in developing professional and interpersonal relationships with her patients, based on trust. Her ultimate goal is to support patients to improve their health outcomes and well-being.

Outside of work, Susan cherishes spending quality time with her family. She also enjoys reading, playing netball, listening to podcasts, and going on walks with her dog Louie.

Diabetes is complex and increasing worldwide particularly in the young adult demographic. My interest is supporting people to self manage their diabetes to improve their health outcomes and future quality of life.

Travel medicine is a field of healthcare that helps people stay healthy when they're travelling to different places by giving advice, vaccinations, and information to prevent health problems that might come from visiting other regions or countries.
